His specialty was a science fiction and catastrophy based stories like "Doom of London" (1903) and The Four White Days (1903) etc. all first published in Pearson's Magazine with illustrations by Warwick Goble. he also paved the way for spy stories. In 2003 his series The Romance of the Secret Service Fund (written in 1899) was edited by Douglas G. Greene and published by Battered Silicon Dispatch Box.
