Burroughs basically targeted pulp fiction and has his first story the Moons of Mars, serialized by Frank Munsey in the February to July 1912 issues of The All-Story and used the pseudo name Norman Bean. Intending his work at the pulps, Burroughs had his first story, Under the Moons of Mars, serialized by Frank Munsey in the February to July 1912 issues of The All-Story. He was one of the best known and prolific writers in American history in the adventure and science-fiction genres. Among the most remarkable of his creations are the jungle hero Tarzan, the Mars hero John Carter, and the fictional landmass within Earth known as Pellucidar. His Californian ranch has been turned into the centre of the Tarzana neighbourhood in Los Angeles. In his 60’s he became a war correspondent for WWII.
